Welcome to KiLiMM,
the database for research on children's and young adults' literature and didactics as well as media research and media didactics!
KiLiMM is offered by the Department of German Studies at Bielefeld University (Faculty of Linguistics and Literary Studies) in cooperation with the University Library (LibTec, Library Technology and Knowledge Management). The use is free of charge. Further key data and information on the project can be found via the Info tab.

Quickstart. Start your search with the full text search via the input field above or open the tab Publication to display the complete collection. Then narrow your search results using the right side menu. Some facets (e.g. keywords) offer an internal search function for faster orientation when selected. Facets can be activated in any combination. Titles found can be selected, collected and output in various formats using the export function.

Project. KiLiMM offers an extensive collection of secondary literature in the field of German-language children's and youth literature research as well as media research and media didactics. The project was initiated in 2000 by Prof. Dr. Petra Josting at Bielefeld University in cooperation with the former Department of Linguistics/Text Technology (Prof. Dr. Andreas Witt). Currently, the database is hosted at Bielefeld University by the local University Library. The relaunch with a new user interface and extended functionality took place on 1.12.2023.

Database. The data collection goes back to analog title records, which were still made on analog index cards in the early 1980s and were later digitized. It is updated continuously, usually several times a month. Relevant essays, monographs, journals and anthologies in the field of literature/media studies and didactics, which are to be located in the area of historical or systematic research on children's and young adults' literature, are evaluated. A complete list of the periodicals and series included in KiLiMM can be found in the overview of journals and overview of series.
